March 19: Olympia

As of March 19, 2023, we woke up in Olympia. We already had an agenda on the table, being prepared as a group of tourists. We quickly got up and got some breakfast on the street. Afterward, we walked to a museum less than a kilometer away from where we got our food. First, we entered the museum which focused on the history of the Ancient Olympics. We saw some cool artifacts. For example, some athletes ran with a heavy armor and shield as a part of their event, which seems impossible!

The Olympic champions get to be honored for the rest of their lives, including not having to pay taxes! Most of the information we saw was new and exciting. Then, we walked another half kilometer to visit the Archaeological Site where the Ancient Olympics games happened. We noticed some beautiful buildings, such as the Temple of Zeus. Some of us ran on the very same court where ancient athletes competed! It was a long walk but full of content. Finally, we entered Archaeological Site museum. It had a lot of statues of ancient gods and warriors. It explained that Romans destroyed the buildings. Finally, we returned to the streets and shopped for a million souvenirs. Then, we ate dinner at a local family-owned restaurant. Not long after, we were in bed, preparing for our long trip to Delphi the next day. (Post by Kieran)
