We left around 5:30 from Uros Island to Cusco. We went on a tour from Puno to Cusco for a total of 10 hours. The route was called the road of the Sun King where we visited sites related to the history of the Sun King. First stop was at the Museum Pukara which is the largest and oldest ceremonial center of the Altiplano before Tiahuanaco. The pyramid called Kalasaya in the Ceremonial Center. Second stop was at La Ray which is the highest midpoint between Puno and Cusco. We were at 4335 meters (14,200 feet). We could see the beautiful snowy landscape, llamas, and countryside along the route. Third stop was for delicious a Peruvian Luci buffet. After lunch. We went to the forth site which was Raqchi. It was an Inca temple which was huge and the largest temple of the Inca empire. Our fifth and last stop was at Andahuaylillas where we saw an old Saint Peter church. It has lots of art with gold leaf frames.
Finally we arrived at 5:00pm at Cusco! We learned that today the whole city was celebrating the Lord of the Earthquake and almost the whole town was in the plaza. All of us wanted to go to Plaza Tupac Amaru to go shopping before the event started. Scott and Brianna wanted us to stick together during the events is setting up because of the crowding. We observed their celebration.
We went back to hotel to sleep early as we are leaving early in the morning to catch our train to Agua Calientes which is at the bottom of Machu Picchu!
