March 18: A Visit to the Deaf School

Instead of grabbing breakfast at just any café, we went to a French bakery at the station before heading out for the day — there were so many different pastries to choose from!

We started by checking out the Statue of Liberty at Odaiba Park. It’s much smaller than the one in NYC, but it was a gift from France to celebrate their friendship, and it was really pretty and fun to see. After some fresh air, we made our way to Tokyo’s only bilingual Deaf school. The students gave us a tour, and we did a bunch of activities with them — we had so much fun! We even learned how to write our names in Japanese. It was an amazing experience meeting them and making new connections.

Our last stop for the day was Fusao, a Deaf-owned restaurant, where we all hung out for a while. We absolutely devoured the food and drinks! Everyone was cracking jokes and sharing stories — such a good time. After that, we were all completely wiped out and headed back to the hotel.
